From the oldest to the youngest in my family. Yup, that's right. My wife is older than me, but looks younger. Haha. Still remember before we get married, during a movie date, she was prevented from getting into the hall because the operator said she's below 18 years old. Hahaha

By the way, today I'll post about 2018 birthday. Four celebrations ! Ate a lot of cakes. Each birthday celebrated with individual cake. But i'll post only Sayf cake because it was his 1st year ! Yeay....

InsyaAllah, it will be the fifth celebrations. Hahaha

And not to forget to wish my self Happy Birthday too. Haha

Secara jujurnya sedang merancang bagi projek 2017 dan terasa sukarnya juga untuk realisasikannya apabila kita kekurangan peralatan yang sesuai terutamanya lens. Sangat memerlukan lens macro atau sekurang - kurangnya zoom lens seperti Canon 24-105mm F4 bagi mendapatkan komposisi gambar yang lebih menarik. Sangat sukar sebenarnya mengambil gambar minifigure menggunakan lens 40mm (boleh dikatakan agak wide) dan akhirnya terpaksa crop gambar tersebut. Sudah pasti kualitinya sedikit berkurangan dan tidak kelihatan menarik. Bila berkata tentang macro lens, ada sahaja yang memberikan cadangan seperti lens converter, terbalikkan lens dan sebagainya. Tetapi hasilnya tidak seperti yang dibayangkan. Maka semua cadangan tersebut tidak boleh digunapakai dan tidak akan difikirkan lagi. Hanya membazir duit membeli benda - benda tersebut walaupun murah, akhirnya jumlahnya seperti membeli lens baru yang diperlukan.

Maka dengan ini ketetapan yang dibuat, fokus kepada perkara yang diperlukan dan jangan mencari jalan pintas yang akhirnya tiada hasil. Plannig ahead for something big in 2017 !

One of the most important things in photography is light. Light plays the most important role in any role of photography. From wedding to fashion to street to foods to macro and any type of genre, light is always there to be the main character. It is a photographer's job to control it or with creativity make the light become something interesting to play with. When I first involve with Toy Photography, light is the first thing I'm having problem with especially when it involves with Lego minifigures. The thing is, the flash that I used before was not suitable with the small size of minifigures. It ends up the photo becomes a bit plain.

In order to make it better, I need to DIY the light source. I did try several times, from using a small bulb with wiring, create a silinder to focus the light and a lot more and believe me, I've failed a lot. Then I remember, I did bought a book Small Scene in a Big Galaxy by Avanaut. So I read it again, and I learned something. At last, it works ! Its a step for a better days. Will try to be creative about the lighting stuff. Keep moving forward and never give up.

I grew up with Star Wars episode IV, V and VI. That was the first Star Wars Trilogy that I watched, yeah I know, the Star Wars starts with that episode and later on continued with episode I, II and III and the latest one is episode VII and Rogue One. I'm not here to review each episode but simply to tell that for me, I think the best sets for Lego Star Wars comes from the first trilogy. Even most of the UCS Lego Star Wars comes from there too. The Super Star Destroyer, The Slave 1, The Death Star, The Ewok Village, The Sandcrawler, The Millenium Falcon, The Assault on Hoth and a lot more. Not much comes from Episode I, II, III and VII yet.

Currently I'm in mood for that earlier trilogy. Wanna save some money to buy certain UCS sets for my photography. Especially for my project, once I have a proper lens and lighting. My target is before the year of 2020, I can publish my project. Eh? Haha. It's just an idea of what I wish for. Wanna say a lot about it, but I'm gonna do it. As Yoda said, do or do not, there is no try.

The day will come, when your kids grow up. From a little baby and now a little girl who wanna play things with you. My story is, Audrey Marissa started to play Lego too. Yes, of course, I let her play with Lego sets that is not expensive. Mostly the minifigures, and not the rare ones, haha. No way I'm gonna give her the expensive sets. Its UCS ok. Ultimate Collector Series. Haha.

My wife even bought her DUPLO for her to play. One of the Lego sets for kids like Audrey. The bricks are bigger and safe for children to play. I don't mind if Audrey loves Lego too. I'll buy for her when the time is right. Together we shall rule the Lego world. Haha. Talking about Audrey, I realized it's been a while I didn't post any new photos of her.

Hoping Audrey will love Star Wars too.

Mungkin sudah tiba masanya untuk mulakan salah satu projek dalam Lego Photography. Ilham daripada The Travelling Car, membuahkan idea untuk membuat satu series iaitu Trooper & Snail. Satu kisah kehidupan seorang Storm Trooper dan siput belaannya. Haha. Mencabar diri sendiri untuk menjadikan Trooper & Snail sebagai subjek dalam kehidupan seharian. Kita tengok sejauh mana ia boleh pergi. Ikutkan, banyak lagi boleh dilakukan dengan watak lain, tetapi kita mulakan dengan ini terlebih dahulu.

Berhajat untuk menjadi seorang Toy Photographer, saya merupakan seorang yang suka kepada keaslian sesuatu gambar tersebut. Maksud saya kurangkan photomanipulation and less editing using photoshop kecuali terpaksa seperti lightsaber. Sangat mustahil untuk dapatkan effect lightsaber secara realitinya. Percaya atau tidak gambar di atas adalah SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera) tanpa sebarang editing. Sebenarnya idea ini baru dipelajari, dan sedang dalam try and error. Masih ada kekurangan namun kekurangan tersebut berjaya di atasi. Minggu ini akan membeli belah sedikit bagi mengatasi kekurangan tersebut.

Setiap kali usahakan satu scene, bilik memang bersepah. Alhamdulillah memang bilik ini khas untuk kerja - kerja photography saya. Masih banyak kekurangan peralatan, tetapi insyaAllah akan lengkap by end of this year dan the Toy Photography project akan bermula. InsyaAllah, 2017 dan 2018 merupakan tahun yang busy dalam mengejar impian. Lets make it happen !

Another set up di kala keboringan. Just love the Hoth set up. Habis bertepung bilik, tetapi seronok bila lihat hasilnya. By the way, tetiba rasa tidak sabar nak tunggu Star Wars : Rogue One. Dengar kata Darth Vader sangat ganas dalam movie tersebut. Huu Hee..

Once dapat gaji rasa macam nak ke IKEA. Nak beli meja khas untuk set up sebegini. Mudah untuk kemas dan dibasuh. Currently pakai meja kerja, nak mengemas tu agak payah juga. Huuu...

Hoth - This world of ice, snow, and strange beasts is the rebel's secret sanctuary - until they hear that Imperial snowtroopers, led by Darth Vader, are about to attack. The Rebels flee Hoth, and the snowtroopers have to find new ways to keep themselves busy...

Berkesempatan pada malam ini untuk dapatkan satu scene Star Wars menggunakan Lego seolah - olah berada di Planet Hoth. Sepatutnya menggunakan Lego Minifigure Snow Troopers dan bukannya Storm Troopers, tetapi belum lagi membeli set tersebut. Maka terpaksalah menggunakan Storm Troopers. Kali ni dapat mengawal keadaan dengan lebih baik daripada sebelum ini. Arah pencahayaan juga dikenalpasti yang lebih bersesuaian. Cuma latar belakang perlu ditambah baik. Warna hitam dilihat terlalu kosong berbanding menggunakan warna kelabu. Mungkin juga perlu diletak props seperti batu bersalji dan sedikit pokok. Akan cuba tambah baik bagi scene berikutnya.
